ABOUT
THE LOUD QUIET
Hello, my name’s Rebecca Ryder - you can call me Becky. I’m a fully qualified, trauma-informed somatic therapist and breathworker. I also trained to level 3 in person-centred counselling.
I love creating safe spaces for healing, personal growth and creative inspiration. For loving ourselves more, falling in love with life and bringing more of our authentic self to the world. My passion is helping you reconnect with yourself and overcome what holds you back.
When we learn how to be in deep stillness with ourselves, we hear our inner voice again. From this place I call The Loud Quiet, we find what lights us up and makes us human. We’re then empowered to express ourselves authentically, live a life we love waking up to and meaningfully connect with others.
I trained in conscious connected breathwork and somatic enquiry, which are beautiful practices for building a better relationship with our own bodies. With a regulated nervous system and conscious support, we can safely process suppressed emotions. Many of us are disconnected from ourselves and the world around us. It’s a completely normal part of the human experience; I’ve been there and I know how it feels. Without those experiences, I wouldn’t be so passionate about what I do today.
I’ve carried out training in Mexico, Spain and Canada, supporting people from around the world. I now run regular classes and workshops around my home city of Manchester. I also support on events and retreats further afield. I’m passionate about bringing together eastern and western approaches to healing.
I first discovered breathwork in 2020 during the first lockdown, when I started paying more attention to my mental and spiritual health. I wanted to get to know myself better and love myself more. Being diagnosed with ADHD in 2022 was a big part of why I then started The Loud Quiet the year after. The areas of focus for me were clear: ‘Permission to pause, nurturing your inner world and coming back to yourself.’
In January 2023, I went on a somatic processing retreat to Mexico, and the rest was history. I started training in breathwork and somatic release from there. Once I realised how powerful it was to disconnect from the thinking mind and tap into my body’s wisdom, there was no going back. I wanted to go deeper, keep exploring how to become more embodied in daily life, and help others to do the same.
Anyone with ADHD will know we never let ourselves 'pause', so learning more about slowing down was important to me. It's the only way we can hear ourselves and trust our own wisdom. We disconnect from our inner worlds and don't validate ourselves enough; we’re also highly prone to emotional dysregulation. You may also identify with ‘masking’ being a frequent state of being, which is why I’m passionate about coming back to the truest versions of ourselves; rather than shaming parts of ourselves and presenting how we think others want us to be. By allowing me to be more physically present in each moment, somatic therapy and breathwork helped me deeply attune to my emotions. I can feel more unapologetically human, rather than shaming myself over how I feel. I used to over-analyse what I felt, rather than just feeling it, which seemed too overwhelming. I would frequently feel completely numb and wonder what was ‘wrong’ with me.
Once I started connecting with my body and emotions, I could experience life more fully and find more joy in noticing the little things around me. Rather than always chasing the next ‘high’ or exciting event, wishing my life away, numbing and distracting from what I felt day to day. By helping me navigate my emotions, rather than dismissing or questioning them, breathwork empowered me to be myself, hear my inner voice and live life more confidently.
It brings me such joy and fulfilment to now support others who are on their own journey of self-discovery and loving themselves.
